The closing symposium will explore artists' formations that across the Global South have asserted the existence of a self-conscious, non-Western avant-garde since 1945. As a starting point for this inquiry, we take Joaquín Torres-García’s drawing América invertida (1943), a map that inverted the North-South coordinates of the planisphere.
